Preparing your child for First Communion or Confirmation
Dear Faith Formation Families,
We celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation every 2-3 years, when we have a large enough group of students.
Confirmation is a 2-year program. Students must attend both years of the 2 year program.
Students must not begin the 1st year of the program until they are in 7th grade or older.
For more information, please see Cindy.
God Bless,

Fall 2015 Changes:
This note is intended to inform you of some new changes in our Diocese that may affect your child's sacraments.
If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please see Cindy or Deacon John.
The following bullet point is a very brief summary of a 15 page emailed document detailing the new policies. Please know that the new guidelines were implemented to help make the sacramental prep process more about the faith journey than "jumping through hoops." Emphasis is geared to building the relationship between Christ and the student, strengthening the Domestic church and building the relationship between the family and the parish.
- The Diocese has created new guidelines for sacramental preparation. Starting Fall 2015, all parents must notify the parish 2 years before they would like their child to receive either First Communion or Confirmation. These families will then have an entrance interview with Dcn. John and the sacramental prep coordinator (Cindy), to assess the “spiritual temperature” of the family. Questions should be asked about the family’s prayer life, Mass attendance, faith attitudes, etc. Notes should be taken by Dcn. John and Cindy and kept in a file. A second interview should take place 2 years later, shortly before the sacrament is received to measure the spiritual growth of the candidate and family over the course of the 2 years of preparation.
